When it is time to eat, eat with no distraction until complete.
When it is time to work, work with no distraction until complete.
When it is time to play, play with no distraction until complete.
When it is time to rest, rest completely.
Some would call the practise mindfulness practice. To me, the word “mindful” is rather difficult to grasp. In my opinion, it is about being able to pay attention to what you are doing without any distraction.
How frequently do you pay attention to what you eat without getting distracted by your phone or your surroundings? When you eat, savour each bite and each mouthful. There are people going hungry every day, appreciate there is still food going into our mouth.
When you work, do you either have social media notification on? Please switch off the notification. Whenever we are distracted, it takes 25 minutes to get back to the original work. If we are distracted twice, an hour is as good as gone. So when it is time to work. Just work. Tell yourself, it is time to work and you will sit down and finish the work.
When is time to rest, get away from the screen and get some real rest. When you are tired, avoid screen as a form of relaxing. Blue lights emit from the screen reduces melatonin hormones that help us to fall asleep. Feeling tired means the body is telling us to rest and not watching cute kitten videos.
How does this increase your productivity? It is everything. If you can do your work with full dedication. You will finish your work sooner than you planned. You eat your meal with more efficiency and your body will digest the food better. You will rest better and rejuvenate your body handle more challenges that come with your work. An overwork, overweight, sleepy and tired body will not allow you to be as efficient as you want to be.
Do what thing at a time. Do it with all your heart. Be it work, play or rest.
